Food Lion, Stop & Shop and Hannaford websites face outages after cybersecurity issue

A group of grocery stores – including Stop & Shop, Hannaford and Food Lion – are facing outages to their websites and mobile apps this week.

Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company of the grocery store chains and others, said in a statement on Monday that was later updated on Tuesday that it was experiencing a cybersecurity issue within its network.

The issue prompted the company to take "precautionary measures, including taking some systems offline to help protect them."

"We recognize that these actions have caused disruption for customers, associates and partners, but protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority," Ahold Delhaize said, adding that its teams are urgently working to "investigate the incident and restore affected systems safely."

"As they make progress in assessing and mitigating the issues, we are in the process of starting a controlled re-launch of certain systems," the company said.

Food Lion's website said that the chain's "website and app are currently unavailable," adding that, "We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Customers may place delivery orders through Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. Any unfulfilled orders placed through FoodLion.com or the Food Lion app will be refunded."
