MANHATTAN — The Kansas State men’s basketball team will play a second straight home game on Saturday afternoon, taking on Texas Tech in a Big 12 matchup at Bramlage Coliseum.
The No. 15-ranked Wildcats (16-2, 5-1 Big 12) are coming off a big 83-82 overtime victory over No. 2 Kansas on Tuesday night and will have a third straight full house at Bramlage against a Texas Tech team (10-8, 0-6) still looking for its first Big 12 victory. Five of the Red Raiders’ six conference losses have been by seven points or less, including an 81-74 setback at home Tuesday against Baylor.
K-State is led by forward Keyontae Johnson with 18.7 points — 20.7 in Big 12 play — and 7.2 rebounds a game, while point guard Markquis Nowell adds 16.4 points and 8.4 assists. Johnson and super-sub guard Desi Sills each had 24 points and Nae’Qwan Tomlin his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds against KU.
For Texas Tech, which split its two games with K-State last year, all five starters are scoring in double figures, led by forward Kevin Obanor with 15.1 points, with De’Vion Harmon and Pop Isaacs contributing 12.1 each.
