House GOP to Host Roundtable on Big Tech Role in Fentanyl Crisis

House Republicans next week will host a roundtable on the role big tech platforms such as Snap Inc.‘s Snapchat and Meta Platforms Inc.‘s Instagram are playing in fentanyl addiction and deaths in the US.

Social media companies have come under fire for the sale of illegal substances on their platforms, which are often used by children and teenagers. Republicans, newly in the majority in the House, have pledged to investigate the issue.

House Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) will lead the Jan. 25 roundtable.
